Meaning, you can keep listening to your favorite songs even if you’re not connected to the internet or you want to save mobile data.
All you need to do is to reconnect to the internet at least once every 30 days to maintain your downloads.

How you can download music from YouTube?
Generally, there are two ways to download music from YouTube to listen on offline mode.
You can turn on “Smart Downloads.” The YouTube Music app will automatically download songs for you based on your previous browsing/listening history. There is no manual action required for you!
Alternatively, you can choose specific playlists, songs, or albums to download from YouTube.
YouTube Music Smart Downloads
By turning on Smart Downloads, you will have music available while on the move. To turn on Smart downloads on your mobile, follow the below steps:
- Open the YouTube Music app.
- Tap on your profile photo.
- Tap on Downloads.
- Tap on Settings.
- Turn on “Smart downloads.”
Once you turn on “Smart downloads,” music files will automatically be downloaded for you based on your previous listening history. Users can either view, pause, or delete the watch history to improve recommendations from YouTube.
You can manually remove the song, in case don’t like a specific playlist, album, or song in your downloads. Just tap on Menu and then “Remove download “. When you remove a playlist, album, or song, it will not download again to your smart downloads. Though, you can see and listen to it elsewhere in the YouTube Music app.
The music selection is getting refreshed every night when you’re connected to the internet and have more than 40% battery charge. Music that you downloaded can be played for up to 30 days on offline mode.
How to download playlists and albums
Within the YouTube Music app, you will see a playlist or album; to download playlists or albums, just tap on Menu and then select Download.
Alternatively, you can also click on the download arrow on the album or playlist details page.
How to download a specific song
You can download a specific song from the watch page. Just by tapping on the cover art of any song, and then tapping on Download.
How to manage download storage space?
It depends upon how much free space is available on your mobile device, and the number of songs that you want to download. The length and quality of the audio or video files that you wish to save also play an important role in the storage space.
You can always limit the number of songs for your smart downloads and choose between audio or video downloading by tapping on your profile photo and then Settings.
Then, scroll the page down and then select “Offline settings.”
Connection Type to use for Downloads
You can choose which types of connections should be used to download songs in the YouTube Music app. For example, you can specify that songs should only be downloaded on Wi-Fi.
Some mobile network carriers provide access to unrestricted mobile data, which is data that does not count towards any quotas or limits. If you’re using one of those carriers, you may see an option to download on “Wi-Fi and unrestricted mobile data.” Selecting this option will allow songs to be downloaded and smart-downloaded when your device has a Wi-Fi connection or is on an unrestricted mobile data connection.
Unrestricted mobile data is only available on Android version R or newer. It’s limited to participating mobile carriers, where access may be limited to 5G.
Step 1: To adjust your settings, just open the YouTube Music app. Then, tap on your profile photo and then “Settings.”
Step 2: Tap on “Library & downloads” and then tap Download connection.
Step 3: Select the connection type to allow downloads on.
